3SC was exactly five years old on 23 July 2014. Over that time 3SC has swayed with the ebb and flow of procurement and has steadily built a portfolio of programmes that, through our wonderful and growing number of consortia members, are making an impact on some of our biggest social problems. We have tried to influence the public procurement space so that commissioners, primes and policy makers are far more inclusive in their willingness to engage the expertise that is prevalent in our sector:
This month, 3SC’s Business Development Team has continued to pursue new opportunities for our members in the criminal justice, employability and NEET markets.
3SC is delighted to announce that Business in The Community (BITC) is our member of the month for July. BITC collaborated closely with 3SC to develop our NEA Mentoring proposals, and have enhanced our offer by sharing the valuable lessons learned from frontline delivery. We look forward to working with BITC, and up to 10 other 3SC members to deliver the next round of NEA Mentoring services if our bids are successful.
Sail training on Challenge Wales, Wales’ largest sail training vessel, is all about helping Welsh young people under 25 years to develop skills to help them in employment and broaden their opportunities, so it made perfect sense for the sailing charity to work with Jobs Growth Wales to provide job opportunities for not one but three young people.
Given that we have recently celebrated the 10,000th person entering a Jobs Growth Wales role, it seems only right that this month’s Wales update is dedicated to some of the fantastic employers that we are working with.
The NCSE is delivered by a partnership between 3SC, Social Firms UK and Social Enterprise UK and funded by NOMS CFO and the European Social Fund. This unique consortium offers VCSEs plus local & regional consortia opportunities to be part of national contracts to deliver their diverse and innovative services throughout England.
3SC is passionate about employment for those people who might have barriers, as is Julian John from Delsion Diversity. Delsion is one of 3SC's latest members and is Community Interest Company (CIC) dedicated to helping people who need support into work.
To celebrate 10,000 employees on Jobs Growth Wales, the Welsh Government invited us to be involved with a promotional video along with Mike and Nathan from Aspray. We are delighted to have employers like Aspray on board providing great vacancies.
Simply Do is a social venture aimed at providing innovative solutions for startups, micro-businesses and business support organisations in Wales. One of the new and exciting areas of work is the Simply Do Startup programme launching mid-July. This is a startup accelerator for young people (aged between 18 and 24) aimed at equipping them with the mindset, knowledge and experience to plan, build and start successful ventures.
