For 5 years, Lucy has had CFS/M.E. which, at times, is extremely debilitating and had made getting a job impossible. deZanjo Limited saw potential in Lucy and with the help of 3SC and Jobs Growth Wales, they were able to provide her with a job. As a web development company, deZanjo were able to allow Lucy to work flexibly, often from home. This flexibility has enabled her to work 35 hours every week, which exceeded everyones expectations! Although Lucy’s job title is “Admin Assistant” she has had the opportunity to also do some web design and sales.
I am very pleased that this 3SC Newsletter includes a piece by Yvonne Thomas. Yvonne is the Managing Director for Justice at Interserve and someone with whom we have been working very closely on the Transforming Rehabilitation procurement.
Due diligence, consortia building and service offers that make a difference for Transforming Rehabilitation (TR)
Earlier this year we asked our VCSE sector members to declare an interest in the TR competition. We wanted to know where you could work, your track record in reducing reoffending and about the special elements of your services. More recently we have written to all those who declared an interest in working with us and requested due diligence (DD) information. We recognise this take up valuable time but this is a requirement set out in the competition process. We appreciate many of the VCSE sector are at full stretch responding to a number of tier 1 bidders, so we thank you for the time you are giving to this process.
In June Interserve will be submitting our bids to the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) for the Transforming Rehabilitation programme. We have been carefully developing service offers that both represent maximum value for money, and are genuinely locally relevant to reducing reoffending. The Voluntary Community and Social (VCSE) sector is very important to both these priorities because its innovation has led the way in cost efficient intervention, combined with enviable track records rooted at a neighbourhood level.
3SC are looking at opportunities to work with the Lift programme to increase JGW opportunities in the Tredegar and Ebbw Vale area of Blaenau Gwent. Lift is an ambitious Welsh Government programme aiming to provide increased training and employment opportunities for people in households where no one is working.
The winners of the much coveted accolade of Partner of the month has been awarded to our new consortia of partners assembled by 3SC to support our Talent Match London delivery in partnership with London Youth funded by the Big Lottery Fund.
3SC are growing and we’ve taken the step of deciding to take on our very own Jobs Growth Wales team members.
One of the elements of Jobs Growth Wales is the supported Strand, this strand is available to third sector, public and private employers.
Many employers have given us feedback on the invoicing process recently and we always love to her what you think! As such we have made a few changes to make the process even smoother.
I have asked myself two questions recently. How has 3SC progressed this financial year, and how will 3SC look this time next year? The first question is easier of course, and we can point to a major contract acquisition in Jobs Growth Wales, the opening of our 3SC Cymru office in Cardiff, leading the creation of a consortium of social enterprises for the Ministry of Justice and our work in presenting the sector to some of the organisations bidding for Transforming Rehabilitation contracts.
