From Self Doubt to Self-Belief: How Coaching Helped a Growth Company Participant Transform Their Future

A participant referred to 3SC by The Growth Company has experienced a remarkable personal and professional transformation after completing a series of neurodiversity informed coaching sessions delivered by Amee Sandhu from 3SC. What began as a journey to manage ADHD and improve mental wellbeing evolved into a powerful story of confidence, capability, and renewed ambition.
When the participant referred to as JC first entered the programme, they were struggling with several barriers that felt overwhelming. ADHD symptoms, perfectionism, and persistent negative self-talk made everyday tasks difficult. Social situations felt uncomfortable, and despite wanting to work, JC doubted their ability to succeed in employment or be taken seriously in professional environments.
Although passionate about becoming a chef, JC lacked confidence, experience, and belief that opportunities in the culinary world were truly within reach.
Through six structured coaching sessions, Amee Sandhu provided a blend of practical strategies, emotional support, and neurodiversity affirming tools. The coaching focused on:
- ADHD management, including yoga, breathwork, and meditation alternatives
- Building confidence and self-worth
- Developing coping strategies and emotional regulation
- Improving communication and social comfort
- Creating structure, routine, and healthy habits
- Supporting career development and cheffing aspirations
Amee introduced techniques such as thought journalling, mindfulness, and “anti meditation” approaches, helping JC understand their triggers, regulate emotions, and build healthier thinking patterns. Yoga became a particularly powerful tool, improving focus, sleep, and emotional balance.
As the coaching progressed, JC’s mindset began to shift. They became more aware of their thoughts, more confident in social settings, and more capable of managing stress. Their sleep improved, their routines strengthened, and they began taking pride in small but meaningful achievements like baking, reading, and maintaining self-care habits.
This internal transformation soon translated into external opportunities.
A chef at their college recognised JC’s potential and personally recommended them for a prestigious culinary trip to Italy. Despite the programme being full, an extra place was created specifically for JC an outcome they described as unbelievable and deeply meaningful.
JC also secured employment at Asda, gaining valuable experience, structure, and financial independence. While not their long-term goal, the job has become a stepping stone toward their future career in cheffing.
By the end of the coaching programme, JC reported feeling optimistic, motivated, and proud of their progress. Their “Distance Travelled” scores reflected significant improvements in confidence, coping skills, social comfort, and readiness for work.
Most importantly, JC now believes in their ability to become a professional chef and is actively preparing for their trip to Italy in June 2026. They have also applied for counselling to continue supporting their mental health and maintain the momentum built through coaching.
JC described the coaching as supportive, practical, and empowering. They felt heard, understood, and encouraged to take action in ways that genuinely worked for them. They noted that the biggest change was internal: a shift in mindset that allowed them to see their strengths, trust their abilities, and move forward with purpose.
JC’s journey highlights the transformative potential of personalised, neurodiversity informed coaching. Through the partnership between The Growth Company and 3SC, participants like JC are gaining the tools, confidence, and opportunities they need to thrive both personally and professionally.
Their story is a testament to what can happen when the right support meets the right moment: self-belief grows, opportunities open, and futures change.
