Homelessness is a huge challenge within the UK hampered, not least, by the difficulties in data and management reporting.

Along with the news that the DWP have released £3,000,000 of funding for JCP staff to work with the homeless, DWP have praised the work of the Salvation Army as being the fourth emergency service in this ERSA report.


Under Secretary of State at the Department for Work and Pensions, Baroness Deborah Stedman-Scott said:


“I’ve known The Salvation Army for many years and think of them as the fourth emergency service – they are there when you really are in trouble.”


The last word goes to the Salvation Army who alongside some exceptional partners within the third sector, provide an array of solutions to the homelessness crisis including drop in centres, life houses, floating support and outreach services.
