Embracing Neurodivergence: How Coaching Helped Sarah Thrive
For years, Sarah felt like she was swimming against the current. Struggling to keep up with societal expectations and feeling out of place in work and personal relationships, she often blamed herself for not “fitting in.” It wasn’t until her late 30s that she received a life-changing diagnosis: she was neurodivergent.
“At first, I didn’t know how to process it,” Sarah recalls. “There was relief in having an answer, but I also felt overwhelmed.”
That’s when Sarah turned to coaching with 3SC. Looking for guidance on how to navigate her newfound understanding of herself, she was referred to our 3SC coaching programme, designed to help Neurodivergent individuals build confidence, harness their strengths, and create strategies for everyday challenges.
“Coaching helped me move from feeling broken to feeling empowered,” Sarah says. “Instead of trying to ‘fix’ myself, I started learning how to work with my brain, not against it.”
Through one-on-one sessions and tailored tools, Sarah gained practical strategies to manage executive functioning difficulties, sensory sensitivities, and communication challenges. Just as importantly, she learned to reframe her perspective on Neurodivergence.
“My coach encouraged me to focus on what I’m good at and how I can use those strengths to succeed,” Sarah explains. “I’ve always been incredibly creative and detail-oriented – two things I used to overlook because I was too focused on what I couldn’t do.”
Over time, Sarah began to thrive. She developed systems to stay organized, started advocating for her needs at work, and even found joy in connecting with others who shared similar experiences. “I stopped feeling ashamed of being different,” she says. “I started celebrating it.”
Her message is clear: “Being neurodivergent isn’t a flaw and there’s nothing wrong with you – it’s a part of who you are. Coaching gave me the tools to embrace that, and it changed my life.”
For Sarah, understanding her neurodivergence wasn’t just about overcoming challenges—it was about discovering her full potential. And she’s just getting started.
